Thanks for sharing your experience, Phonologist! Having grown up in Colorado, I'm a bit cynical when it comes to nice places like Boulder whose local economies have priced out the average working professional over the past few decades. That being said, Boulder has many redeeming qualities and, if you're realistic about the financial realities, CU's IEC would be a really nice place to work. Given the realities of college teaching in the U.S. right now, a full time gig at CU is much better than cobbling together multiple part-time gigs or not even having a teaching job at all. In the big scheme of things, it's actually quite a good job, and CU seems to have at least one or two openings each year, so it's definitely worth applying for if you're in the market for full-time work here in the U.S.
