Can someone remind me - INM is so difficult to navigate - what is the maximum time one can be out of Mexico on a 'Residente Temporal' in one year?
I can see you can leave and return as many times as you want, but there must be limit to the time, either in single trips or in one longer trip. I can't find that information. |

Thank you. I saw that one, but I wondered if it was up-to-date, as it mentions:
Podrán ausentarse del país hasta dieciocho meses en forma continua o con intermitencias dentro de sus cinco años de estancia.
...and the current visa 'residente temporal' is for 4 years. However, I did notice that it refers to the Fundamento Jurídico in the Ley General de Población, so that's easy to check online.
Thanks again |

Easy, I said?!
It appears that in the latest update of the 'Ley General de Población', December 2015, the entire Immigration section (on which the aforementioned article is based) has been repealed.
Looks as if only a trip to immigration will give me the definitive answer. |

That would be a first!
Good luck with it. I suggest going to the airport AND the office in Polanco, to compare the answers.
I happen to be going to the GDL office next week. I'll ask there too and post so you can split the best two responses out of three. |

Thanks, Guy.
The strange thing is that this info is so difficult to find - especially as it seems to have been struck off the latest update of the law - it's an important condition of the immigration permission! |
