Hello All, I recently applied for an ESL Teacher position with Cempaka Schools in KL. After participating in an 'email interview', I was advised I was successful in securing the position and sent a letter of appointment as well as a contract. Terms and conditions of employment were (comparatively) exceptional. THEN I was put in contact with a 'travel agency' and asked to cooperate with them. Cooperation involved transferring money to them in exchange for preparation of visa/work permit and a ticket to KL. They are still contacting me - expressing surprise that they haven't received the money.....The times of the emails sent to me do not correspond with the Malaysian time zone - I suspect the scammers are operating from elsewhere.

I too have just dealt with this exact same scam. I knew something was strange when they did not want a formal Skype interview and just sent a long list of interview questions. The agency that they recommended you send money to for the visa/documents was super sketchy looking too. I even requested to speak with them over Skype before I sent any money and they said they speak no English and it wouldn't be possible (....right).

I have family in Malaysia and asked one of my relatives to call the school and see if the offer was legit which they not surprisingly said they had nothing to do with it and it was indeed a scam. I'm just happy I never sent them any of the $1600+ they asked for.
