So I needed to leave Malaysia due to a personal emergency, which involves me suddenly having to take care of relatives in my home country. I would like to withdraw my EPF contribution but have no idea how to go about it. I contacted my old employer (no response), the malaysian consulate (we're not involved with this, go back to Malaysia (!)) and the EPF office (just come on by (obviously not).

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I need to do?

Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

Wow, you are in a tough spot.

Before I left Malaysia, I made more than one trip to the KWSP building and talked with a senior officer. He gave me his business card and I was able to keep in touch with him while in the long process of remitting my KWSP savings back to my home country.

You could try to look up the phone number and email address of the KWSP building closest to where you worked. Be polite and explain to them your situation. You will probably need to fax or attach one of your statements to your email to show them your contribution i.d. number. They might also wanted certified, notarized documentation of your identity.

Good luck.
