Hey guys,

Have you ever used an app to learn a new language with? Which one actually worked and helped you out?

Has anyone tried the HelloTalk App before? It connects you to the people in other countries that teach you to speak the language you want to learn, and about the culture of that country/region, via video chat, something I haven't seen any other app do... It's uses something called Agora video chat, which I guess makes it work really well, no matter what country the native speaker is in.

I'm going to try it, and I'll report back if it's of any use.

I've been using Pleco for a few years now. I bought most of the extensions to go with the free download and it is immensely helpful in learning Chinese. There are loads of other apps I have as well including Memrise, ChinesePad, Laokang, and a few other flash card apps (and they're all good), but Pleco is the only one I use every day.

Best way are the natives. I used 'language exchange' or something like this about 5-6 years ago; the real people are the fastest path to fluency
