I have to wonder if I managed to be over in KSA and Oman (2009-2014) during the waning "Good Old Days" of teaching English in the Gulf.

In other news, I heard that down in Salalah one of the colleges just rehired most of the staff that had lost their jobs due to their recruiter losing their contract. It seems that the new recruiter was willing to pick up most of the existing teachers. No objection letters strangely materialized, as if this was never really an issue. From what I hear. the teachers were allowed to re-sign -- but with a big pay cut. The figure I overheard was a reduction in salary of 180 riyals.

This is all secondhand, but it came from a good source. I post it as further evidence that cash-flow is tight.

Some of the students reported today that they have not received their 'salary' either.
