If so, I would appreciate some feedback.
All the best. |

US Army here. Finishing school on my benefits and should be over there (Asia, probably Cambodia then Vietnam) early next year. Going online, so I will look for some PT work which from the consensus, seems available at language centers.
Thailand seems like too many gringos, Cambodia may have a lot of pervs I would just as soon shoot as look at, but I do like the wild west and Vietnam certainly pays once you get all the bells and whistles. It's also just a place I want to visit.
EXPATLUKE posted some really good feedback and was very helpful on this site to me. Hope that helps you. Beware of the "Cat Woman". In all, this is the best managed forum I have found for TESOL stuff.
Stay in touch. I wish you luck in your search. If we cross paths in Asia, I can be a high roller at $1USD/beer, although my party animal days are over pretty much.
And thanks for your service. I worked a lot with the Brits for over 10 years. I enjoyed it and you guys always were at our side, even in the one that was stupid to do (sorry). I owe you one.
All the Best,

I think the dearth of replies to your query does not necessarily there are few veterans online here. I think it is a matter of self perception. When asked the question "Who are you?" most here will answer that they are ESL teachers. I currently receive 75% of my income from substitute teaching and 25% from my ESL job but I still tell people that I am an ESL teacher.
I am a veteran of the US Army from 69-71 but I only mention it in response to a direct query. I am not ashamed of that fact but it is still part of my past, not my present. (My wife coming from a VC family will sometimes tease me while smiling with "You are my enemy.") Being in the service, whether voluntarily or involuntarily as I was, inevitably imprints itself on your consciousness. I still use the military time and date conventions and can never wear a hat indoors. But for most things the importance will fade with time. |
