| I often see job ads that require "EU working papers." Is there any such thing? If you are a citizen of an EU country isn't that what you actually need to be able work in another EU country? Isn't it ridiculous to call your citizenship "EU working papers?" I don't think there is any such thing for an American, either. You might get papers to work in Germany, but they would be useless in Slovenia. So what's up with this phrase? What am I missing? |

You're correct (so far as I know) that there is no such thing.
I have a working permit for the specific EU country in which I have permanent residency. I might be able to get exceptional working permission for a specific EU country that 'needs' me and cannot for some reason find any EU member state citizen with equivalent creds.
But there is no such thing as a blanket EU working paper that allows a non-EU state member citizen to work anywhere in the EU. |

| They must mean "Passport from an EU member State". Sometimes when people write job ads they do not think the thing through. |
