I bumped into an old work colleague today.
He was off to the local Immigration to get a new 1 year Non-Imm 'B' visa.
He told me of new rules that have recently come into force about getting certified copies of your degree from your Embassy, plus a contract of your housing arrangements and then a translation into Thai of a letter from your Embassy confirming you are who you say you are. I've alreday heard about the new rules of wanting to know bank account, social network addresses and places where you regularly hangout.
It seems that Thai Immigration are becoming like BIG BROTHER.
Is this nationwide or just localised?
What have been your recent experiences with Thai Immigration?

For a NEW non-B (as compared to an extension of an existing non-B)
    Authentication of degree = yes.

Residence book or proof of residence = no, not for a non-B. You may be asked for it for an extension of stay or during a 90-day report.

Confirmation of identity = no (that is what your passport is for) UNLESS you do not have a bio-metric passport.

The other stuff is/was for 90-day reports and is localized to a few offices. It had nothing to do with getting a non-B.

7 years here and I have done NONE of the above.
