Do the ATM machines in Bangkok accept "Union Pay" or ATM cards from Chinese banks? I am curious because I am considering going to Bangkok for Chinese New Years. |

I can't give you first hand information, but I have a Union Pay card from my bank in Myanmar and they told me that Union Pay cards are accepted at ATMs in 18 different Asian countries, including Thailand. |

"The Land Of Smiles" Banks will accept your Chinese ATM cards...just be careful with possible surprise transaction charges and/or fees! |

And be careful with machinese swallowing your card. Happened to me twice in Thailand. Do not enter your code three times incorrectly! Not sure about the reason for the second confiscation. |

Is there a traveler's check system in Chinese banks that dispenses checks that can be used by Thai banks? |

I think union card is only 50 THB. Compared to 200 THB fee a lot of Thai banks are charging foreigners...Bank of China on the moat in Chiang Mai. |

Not only do some ATM machines in the Land of Smiles swallow up your ATM card...but sometimes they also mysteriously vanish never to be seen again! |
