I emailed them a few weeks ago and asked if they had any part-time evening classes and still no response. The decent jobs over here in Bahrain are few and far between, and jobs like this I would say are very questionable at best. Any bored, English-speaking spouse would do far better with privates than this place.

seeing as they were advertising for a full-time position, I'd say that they gave you all the information you needed to answer your question!

Since language schools usually hire mainly part timers, it makes sense to me for someone to make that logical request.

Seems to me that a competent organization would have answered the email even if for future needs.

That's probably because the ad was posted by a recruiting agency in Canada on behalf of their "client" language school. The recruiter likely wouldn't know about
part-time hours given that the ad specifies full-time work. Plus, it's not unusual for recruiters to ignore random questions unless those asking have submitted a CV.

In the Middle/Far East? Not in my experience mostly due to visa sponsorship issues.

When I used to have to sift through (sometimes) hundreds of applications for a single position, there were very few that I would respond to because we were a competent organization and the vast majority of applications were obviously not.

The vast majority of their teachers are hired in country and already have a visa... either with a spouse... or another employer.

I took your statement at face value i.e. as a general statement about language schools worldwide. If you have specific knowledge of that school and are referring to that one, thanks for making that clear.

Otherwise... <raspberry> Wink

duh... this is the branch discussing the Gulf. And since you also have no information on this school... feel free to <raspberry> yourself Wink

But I am confident that language school hiring is the same in Bahrain as it was in Kuwait, the UAE, and Oman (and friends in Jeddah and Riyadh) where my described situation was encountered. It is the obvious methodology to get cheap teachers...

So, you claim it was obvious that you were writing only about schools in the Gulf?

Clearly, this is not the case because you then refer to "a competent organization."

Not sure why you bother to post here with your consistently negative attitude...
