Considering a move to the UAE but it's proving quite difficult to actually find a lot of jobs advertised. I've seen some on teachaway, but are there any other reliable sites? When is hiring season? I've got good qualifications and experience so I'm hoping that I can find something starting at the end of Summer / start of the academic year.

You need to review your thread from a few months ago, Making money so I can live my dream, which touched on the job situation in the Gulf.

Hiring season for the region has already started and will likely continue into the next few months. Teach Away, Footprints, and Serious Teachers are agencies that recruit for k12 public and some private/int'l schools in the UAE (with Teach Away being the main player). Just keep checking for postings on those job boards and general TEFL sites.

That said, "good qualifications and experience" is vague. Plus, qualified/experienced to teach what? Landing a job in the competitive UAE requires specific qualifications, especially teaching licensure/certification from your home country for most positions. This is why some recruiting events occur in the US, UK, and Canada.

If you don't meet the minimum for UAE jobs, then look to Saudi Arabia or China if you still want to "make money so you can live your dream." Wink

I'd like to know the answer to that myself.

I have applied at all of the places listed above and then some, I have the qualifications they are asking for and have not heard one word, why???

Did they hire so many people at the TESOL Arabia that they don't need anymore teachers? I missed out on that.

Recruiters who fill k-12 UAE positions generally don't attend TESOL Arabia, IATEFL, or TESOL Int'l (which have all ended for 2017). In fact, the Teach Away ad for ADEC states that you must "be able to attend an in-person interview in the UAE, USA or the UK - dates to be determined." Keep in mind that means they're especially targeting licensed/certified teachers.

Also, according to Teach Away's FAQs:

Quote:
Once you have applied, our Placement Coordinators will review your application and will contact you if you are being considered for an initial interview within 1-3 days (This is for all non-direct to schools positions). Unfortunately, due to the volume of applications we receive, we can only reply to candidates who are being considered to move forward. You can always check the status of your application by clicking the "My Jobs" tab in your teacher Dashboard, making this your step 3!
