There is competition from competent and professional Bulgarians who do this in increasing numbers. 5 Euros (10 BG Lev) an hour ? |

I inquired at the English Academy in Varna three years ago. They paid 17 leva (8.5 euro) an hour then.
The academy was a management buy-out when the British Council sold up in Varna. They still attract high end students and I suspect pay the highest rates in Varna. Their selling point is using only expat, native teachers. I would think no one else in Varna pays as much.
I suspect the top rates in schools in Sofia are similar. |

There are relatively numerous well-qualified locals to do the job. |

Why hire a semilterate monoglot from Leeds when you can hire a local who has studied English Philology for 5 years ?
Salaries for locals can be as low as 300 Euros a month. Would YOU work for that ? |
