Has anyone experience an in-class observation in KSA? When I worked at Qassim U. I asked a fellow teacher if he would permit me to observe him. He laughed at the idea until I told him, "I'm serious,"
Granted, the idea of observations for professional development may go against common work ethics in KSA, but they might be useful.
I know that in Kuwait, observations occurred and there were handled with follow up for professioal development. It was more professional there. Too bad the students weren't. |

Formal classroom observations were the norm everywhere I've taught. KSA was no exception.
For an extensive general discussion about observations, see Teacher observations. |

My opening year in KSA, working for a dubious contractor, came and went without a single formal observation. However, in my current direct hire role, observations are now annual events and management sometimes insist on peer observations too. So ultimately it depends on the professionalism of the company or contractor you work for. |
