That was predictable.

A 3 year reprieve for many teachers to job search.

It's three year hiatus for high schools to teach to the EMSAT so that students can achieve 1100 on that exam. They fell short on getting most students up to a band 5 IELTS, so they just switched the goal post.

Research into the validity of the correlation between a 5 and a 1100 would be helpful.

How have administrators reacted to this new situation? Have teachers been informed of their status for next year?

There are many administrations and many universities. The visa process is long and complex. Any Prep teacher who did not get renewed in June, has probably moved on to another position, in another country.

The staff of the newly merged Khalifa/PI/Madar institution are still waiting on word as to what will happen with their contracts. The federal government has a an overload of English lecturers in that institution on paper. Watch this space.
