Agree, make your own. Big bright colorful ppt with lots of pics, animations, etc.
Incorporate drawing into your lesson, young kids love to draw.
The use of realia is very important for young learners imo. A simple one is to fill a big bag with different objects and practice using the 5 senses. Kids can be blindfolded etc.

I also agree that it's best to create one's own learning activities and materials specific to their learning context and students (young and old). Unfortunately, some teachers are either too lazy or lack the skills and knowledge to confidently produce effective activities.

The OP and others new to teaching children should check out Kids and Learning from the British Council site. It focuses on tips and strategies to teach young learners.
