You might try looking into education/pedagogy departments.

I think in five years time I can build up my experience and talents, either abroad or adjunct here in the U.S. I´m open to anything.

If you decide to head to the Gulf for work, apply as a direct hire. See The skinny on direct-hire university opportunities in the Saudi forum.

I will look into it. Thanks.

Well, it took me two months of day-by-day applying but now I finally landed a job at a University. I am stoked, even if it is part-time. Any advice on ways to supplement income through online teaching or something else?

Assuming you mean education-related jobs... For info about online ESL work, check out the Cafe's newly created online teaching forum. You could also look into getting a k12 substitute license from your state's education department to teach subjects in your local school districts as a sub. Your city library may have part-time shelver or desk clerk openings. There might also be postings at the university for private writing tutors.

For non-education jobs, stores are starting to hire seasonal work for the holidays. Take a look at craigslist and indeed.com for job ads. Got some sort of talent like singing or juggling? There may be singing telegram or entertainer gigs in your area via established entertainment agencies. Wink

You'll get something to help you financially survive, if you're not picky. You certainly don't want to end up like these unfortunate teachers. Shocked

SWINGING ON THE WEEKENDS TO MAKE ENDS MEET! Now that is tragic (or eccentric!!)! I bet that can lead into quite a teaching philosophy!!! In any case, you gotta do whats best for yourself unless of course you are one of dostoevsky´s characters!!!

THANKS FOR THE ARTICLE!!!
