It looks like there is only one RELO position for Argentina-Bolivia-Chile-Ecuador-Paraguay-Peru-Uruguay But it is listed as based in Peru, You'd think the person would get to Ecuador often enough for an old hand like HLJHLJ to know about it, but I guess not. Generally RELOs serve 2-3 year terms. |

(For U.S. citizens) It does seem that Ecuador does get English Language Fellowship placements. I do know that English Language Fellowships in the Western Hemisphere region are particularly competitive and can fill up quite quickly.

Interesting! Any idea where they would get placed here? I know a few people who have left Ecuador to take up Fellowships in other countries, but I've never even heard of anyone who has come here on one. |

Ministry of Education in Quito...indeed, very interesting.
Not to compare apples and oranges, but I'll compare apples and oranges: I have a friend who completed English Language Fellowships in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and his host institution was that country's Ministry of Education. He regularly traveled all over the country to conduct teacher training for pre-service and in-service teachers.

I really hope this is nothing to do with the absolute train wreck that is the 'Time to Teach' program here.
If anyone ever hears of someone taking one of these Fellowships up, please let me know! (Though gossip about a new foreigner arriving in the MoE would usually spread pretty quickly.) |
