Hey guys,

I'm basically looking for Uni jobs that pay decent amounts (10,000 +) well so far I've seen:

Xian Jiaotong Liverpool Uni
Shantou Uni
Nottingham Ningbo

Essentially I'm looking for jobs that require at least an MA, pays well and has a decent working environment.

Anyone know of any other unis in China that fit these criteria?

Please think 'package' when considering offers.
On-campus sole-occupancy accomodation and a myriad of other factors should be noted alongside per month salary.
You really need to get an offer from a place that looks halfway decent and then come onto the forum to check further for former or current teachers who will share their experience.
I had my most pleasant experience at a 3-year associate degree vocational.

A passive way of looking for work is to post pic and profile on seriousteachers.com
Active strategies include making a list of say 5 cities that interest you. Check the wikipedia entry and on a sidebar you will see a link to 'education'
This will list the major universities and maybe a link - although this is not usual.
Google the uni and look for 'international' or 'recruitment'.
Have a standard application - including pic (NOT passport) and you can bring yourself to the attention of multiple schools in a short time.
There are less jobs available now for Spring semester, than say in July-August for the start of the academic year on 1 Sept.
Seriousteachers will get you a lot of agent enquiries but once you are listed (free) there is no further effort.

Don’t bother with these if you don’t have at least a masters degree. PhD preferred.

Sino-US College, Zhuhai
Bryant University, Zhuhai
United International College, Zhuhai
Beijing Normal University, Zhuhai
Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen)

The five Universities you listed RiverMystic look like decent educational establishments by Chinese standards. Have you worked at one of them? How competitive is it to get a teaching post at one of them if one has a relevant MA, publications and tertiary experience?

You’d certainly have a shot. I’ve worked at two of them, interviewed at a third. The key is experience in similar settings. If you have taught academic English or the special subject you are applying for, especially in China or in a foreign setting, you have a big leg up.

A PhD is a big advantage, but I know masters holders at several of these institutions. Best bet is to scour the net for contact details. There might even be some positions going for this coming semester. Some teachers don’t show up or get visas rejected.

Excellent info RiverMystic. Many thanks indeed. I've taught at universities in Thailand, Turkey and Saudi Arabia. However, China looks quite a challenge. I would like to give it a crack before I hit 50. Very Happy

Nottingham pays 19000 or 27000 depending on if you wand your summers off, Its a toughh job hiwever, basically a 40 hour week. They do provide accomodation, well above the university standadd, my mate had 3 bedrooms in 150 square metres, she was sad because it was too big! NYU in Shanfhai pays 70000 usd. I know people earning way more - I know a couple in GZ earning a quarter mil USD a year. I also knew that when i saw this thread, there would be some clam telling you to THINK PACKAGE. This phrase is code for I EARN NOTHING BUT I HAVE A SPARE ROOM. Screw package, go for the bucks. I recently recruited a couple (married) - thet earn 100,000 usd a year but have no free apartment - so they found their own - 800 usd a month, so much better thany uni supplied dive. Bottom line, your original inquiry - 10,000 - its too conservative -for every 10 foreigners in China 8 are earning rubbish - aim for the 20%

That's possibly the highest income I've heard of for teachers in China and above the range of even the most prestigious international school positions. What do they do?
