I'm a certified K-12 teacher looking for a reputable recruiter for international schools.
Who would you recommend? Who would you avoid? Feel free to explain why/why not. Thanks very much Smile

For international schools only, try sites like Teach Away, Footprints, and Serious Teachers. Also take a look at International Schools Review since not every school uses a recruiting agency.

The agencies listed cover the diverse Middle East/Gulf. They're reputable; friends have used them, and there haven't been any forum discussions about issues.

That said, the majority of English-medium international schools in the region likely don't use outside recruiters to advertise openings. In fact, the tiny UAE tops the list as having the most English-medium international schools in the world. Therefore, consider a general Internet search for openings and research schools individually.

It's even worth joining Abu Dhabi Q and A or a similar group in Dubai and just posting on the forum that you want a job. I've seen a few teachers do it recently.

Think that's the right link.

@nomadsoul, thanks for the names of those recruiters. I now notice that you mentioned friends have used them (I missed that part previously). I have come across these sites too. However, I haven't used them nor do I know anyone who has. You mentioned "the majority of English-medium international schools in the region likely don't use outside recruiters to advertise openings". How do you know this? What makes you state this?

@dragonpiwo, thanks for your recommendation on obtaining a position and website link. I'll give it some thought. It's a neat idea.

The same goes for universities. I've worked in several different countries in the Mid East and none were through a recruiter -- I was a direct hire. Recruiting agencies don't hold a monopoly in the region, and there's no requirement in the GCC that government and private schools and universities use them. That's why you should consider an Internet search as well.

I have to amend my previous statement about the UAE. China has recently inched ahead of the Emirates in terms of the number of English-medium international schools: 620 to the UAE's 592. However, the Emirates has more students enrolled in these schools. See https://www.edarabia.com/uae-tops-number-international-school-enrolees/.
