I did the Nottingham PGCEi. I got a job with it that I 100% would not have got without it, so it has paid for itself.
If you have that, plus the experience to back it up, you can work for some great schools that would otherwise be inaccessible.
Sure, PGCE + QTS + experience is the holy grail, but not everyone can practically return home to do that. The PGCEi is a convenient half-way house that will definitely give you a lift, career-wise, IF you are a good teacher. |

Yeah, I did mine through another place and it involved direct observations. Maybe that is why the cert says PGCE and on PGCEi or some variation. |

I was offered a place on the Nottingham course a couple of years ago, but turned it down because:
- I was already in my mid-fifties, and happy in my current teaching role.
- My salary already paid a bonus because I had a (non-education) MSc degree. I wouldn't receive a second bonus for having the PCGEi.
Instead, I studied several pedagogical CPD courses online, with a view simply to improve my own knowledge about 'how to teach' and 'how students learn', rather than seeking any salary increase or new employment position. |
