Al Khaleej offered me a job but they said I would need to pay for my own visa. I would like to have a 5 year working visit visa ( not Iqama)

Americans can get those.

Does anyone happen to know how much it would cost to get one in Bahrain?

I do not want an Iqama.

I got one in the US. It cost under $500 and only took a week. You should note
that if you do not have an Iqama that they will pay you by check.

I was paid cash when I didn't have an iqama and worked for that 'company'. For six months I was being paid cash without a bank account to put it in, and only had one opportunity to send money home via Western Union with a friend's iqama. This was enough to unfreeze my UK account, so my direct debits could start to be paid again. An absolute PITA I'm forever relieved not to have to go through again.

When I got my first one; I was a bit skeptical. I had never cashed a check in Saudi before. However, it is rather easy. You must go to the bank that issues the check. Go up to the machine that spits out the tickets to be helped.
Since you do not have an Iqama; you give a finger print.
Press for English, Teller, and then other services, (since you are not doing a deposit or withdrawal etc.) You should fill out the back of the check in advance with passport #, country that issued it, date it expires plus your name, citizenship, phone # and signature. Go up to the window when your number is called. Give them your passport and the check and they will give you the cash.
