Hi!
I am wondering what Padang in Sumatra is like? Has anyone lived there, and what did you think of it? Also, has anyone worked for EF there?
Thanks for your answers! |

EF Salary Warning! EF salary in Sumatera is much less then in Java. Granted the general day to day cost of living is less BUT ALL western goods remain the same price. So, great if you want to eat fried rice every day, but the cost of anything else will be expensive in relative terms.
Not trying to put you off, just be aware that you won't be able to actually buy anything on your salary once you arrive.

Hi,
Haven't been to Padang but heard that it is nice place. According to Lonely Planet book it has nice beaches and it is much cleaner than most of the places in Indonesia. And padang food is very famous for its taste. I tried it (nasi padang) and personaly liked it. Many locals here go to Padang and surrounding places for holidays.
About he money I don't know how much u will be earning but if you stick to 'local way', u will be ok. I have been in Sumatra for almost 2 months now and have no problem with the food. I just like everthing I eat. But I was never fond of burgers, kfcs, cokes anyway. i prefer local food(not only because of the peice but because I like it) and they r all quite cheap here.
And I can't say anything about EF as I don't know it.
Hope this helps. Good luck. |
