Thanks for the information, much appreciated. I have a degree & CELTA, also IELTS teaching experience, so sounds like the perfect place to teach. I worked in indonesia for 2 years before coming here to China & can't wait to get back! I worked in Surabaya (close to Malang where TBI have another branch), I haven't been to Bandung & wondered what it's like?
Again, many thanks |

Hi
I lived in Bandung for 6 years and highly rate the place. Cool climate, mountain setting and friendly people - vastly superior to Jakarta in my book. If you have never been to Indonesia before, this is a great place for a soft landing.

Are there any other schools in Bandung with the exception of TBI & EF?
Don't fancy EF and TBI prefer to interview and recruit locally.
Many thanks. |

TBI's pretty good. It has a good reputation, pays the most, and has the most expensive fees too! I've heard EEP is pretty reasonable.
ELS/ELSI.....it used to be great, before the management screwed it over in the late 90s. It's a shadow of its former self now. |

I think KCA's about right on the choices for Bdg at the moment.
I work in EF and it is a pretty happy place to be at the moment. The academic management is decent, hours OK and pay the same as EEP (around 6.2mil).
Advent seems pretty small at the moment, keeping a low profile.
All the teachers I know from EEP seem very happy there, and not really stressed out. It was (until recently) run by bules, so the ****ups were probably kept to a minimum.
TBI would be OK if you like stress, disputes and don't like smiling, but they pay a little more.
Most people don't seem to be making stacks of cash in Bdg, but then again, most seem very happy. It's true that traffic is getting a bit worse, but it's not quite reached Jkta standards yet.
Take it easy. |
Then there is a host of smaller schools such as IEC, LIA, Cambridge, Harvard, etc that you'll find all over Indonesia-usually with Indonesian management, lousy pay, no or minimal help with work visa, etc.]
Hey KCA 420, you mention a school called IEC. This is not the school in Medan, North Sumatera! Our school has an excellent reputation and we follow through on all our promises to prospective teachers. I won't say any more because this is not advertising, it is just putting matters straight. |

Sorry. I am a dummy. I can't seem to work out the quote button. But I think you get my idea. |

I didn't think you were talking about our school. the comments just didn't fit. But as we are advertising at the moment, I didn't want anyone else to get the wrong impression and be put off applying. It's really difficult for people to know which is a good school and which not. And also difficult to convince people you are a good school! Anyway, we are not Intensive English Courses, we are International Education Centre. |
