Can anyone currently living in Jakarta reccommend a bank (either local or foreign). I'm looking to make regular deposits of $US. Priority No.1 is security and low fees.

The International banks are considered more secure. Citibank and ABN Amro. but their fees are high. A student of mine confessed to hacking accounts easily in Indonesia - I belive him, real smart bast*rd. BCA and Mandiri have lots of access points. BNI has low fees. Maybe use Commonwealth Bank (from Australia). They are reliable and good reputation. |

Panin! They charge $1 per month on US accounts. you need a minimum of $100 balance. It's far cheaper than all the other banks! |
