My Dad's favorite expression was in the "suds",meaning drinking beer.
He also called the liquor store the grog shop.

A good list so far. Here are some more that came to mind.

The Drink:

Liquid Courage - a tonic that generates the illusion of superhuman fighting ability within the soggy, addled pate of the imbiber.

Drunken state:

- pickled
- stewed
- pie-eyed

The Morning After:

- eyes like two pissholes in the snow
- the liquid laugh (a variation of the technicolour yawn)

So,Shaman is in Limbo,Canada? Think maybe I drove through Limbo a long,long time ago.Well,why not...after all,there is a Purgatory,Colorado! And I have also been in Hel(only one"l")Poland...small town at the tip of a peninsula in northern Poland.And yes,as a matter of fact,it WAS a cold day in Hel...

I am now in a place where there are still people practicing to be shamans...very colorful...one time when out with friends we saw a few on a mountainside along with some signs..when I asked what the sign said..."Please don't squeeze the shaman! Smile

(only joking,of course).

As long as we are discussing drinking...how about your remedies for hangovers?Of course,there is the famous"Hair of the dog that bit you"...more booze.I always favored tomato juice...good for hangovers...also the best thing to remove the odor if you are ever unfortunate enough to get "skunked" Smile

For hangovers I used to swear by a pickled gherkin.

What about exoressions for not drinking ?
ie "on the wagon", "off the sauce" ?

Teetotaler? On the water wagon? Drinking Adam's ale? A " righteous life ", eh? Would that include a fair amount of " righteous indignation ", directed mainly at posters who think the world is divided into only the USA and all the rest of the globe?
