Hey Mule!
Major truisms in your post - definitely true of UAEU - and, from what i hear, MLI currently. Where do they find these guys? Some have good intentions, but find their hands are tied, so they upset people by trying and then give up and leave a mess behind like you said - others are just here to boost their retirement fund so don't care, others are misfits in their own country and are worse misfits here. The worst thing is that they have no idea of where they have landed - what reality they are in and never bother to find out - they have no concept of what management means here and there's nobody above them to guide them. When these guys arrive - the coordinators etc under them all jump in and try and get in favour - and the new boss ends up trusting the one who invites him round for dinner most and slips him the most bots of beverage before he gets his licor permit - sad but true.
Forget Halloween MLI - go with that cute Brit festival - Guy Fawkes nite - stuff a dummy with straw and burn him. Just one problem - GF was trying to blow up the establishment and he's the one who gets thrown on a fire every year - shame - if only we could stuff the management dummies and burn them - before they stuff and burn us.

It seems to me that it is taking the new management brought in by HCT a long time to figure out who are the poor managers. When you have a student success coordinator (I'm not sure if that is his actual title or not) who can't even type his own e-mails (he actually has another teacher type them for him), let alone handle basic elementary school math, how hard can it be!? None of the people who progressed from the ranks deserve any of there new found glory or pay. I really can't believe that __________ survived his wife cancelling everyone's plane reservations for the last TESOL International recruitment trip, just because she wanted to sit next to her husband on the plane and get a free room in Long Beach. If you did that in the corporate world you'd be gone the next day. Amazing. I just hope the 30% attrition rate that they are talking about starts from the top!
