|

Many of the job postings I've seen about Indonesia seem to be looking for CELTA or TESOL certification, and experience. All I have is a TESL certificate (50 hour course, which is hardly anything) and no experience...do I stand a chance in this country? |

There are schools which will take anyone who's a native speaker, especially ones with lots of conversation classes. I've got a mate who teaches convo, and doesn't know what nouns, verbs or adjectives are! |

Do you know, off hand, if any of these schools recruit overseas? |

I was hired before completing my TEFL Certificate, on the basis of a phone interview. I had no previous teaching experience.
Indonesia is desperate for native English speakers - anyone with a 4-week TEFL Certificate can get hired here. |

I completely agree with ya. Of course they would like someone with more experience but beggars can't be choosers. National Plus and Internationals are a different story but I imagine a couple of years experience here in Indo would give u a good chance at an international school.

I worked with a guy in Indonesia who had no degree, no experience, no teaching qualifications, no knowldge of English grammar or Spelling and was, in fact, German.
So yeah, you'll be able to get a job in Semarang! |
