I have been a frequent user of Joe Baxis (Taxis) in Jakarta for some time and I can count into double figures the number of times I've had drivers who have fallen, or nearly fallen asleep at the wheel, resulting in my having to prod them awake(once at 120kmh). I even had to get one guy to stop at a stall so I could buy him two bottles of energy drink to wake the f@%ker up before he killed us both.
It has happened to me so often now that I am wondering if I inflict some form of narcolepsy upon these poor sods or do others suffer, as I do(until now), in silence?
I would be interested to hear about any experiences.

Keep talking to them - they're much less likely to fall asleep if they have to listen to what you're saying.

i had the same thing on a bus to northern thailand.
driver was falling asleep and i kept waking him.
the female ticket lady (the thai ticket ladies are sooooo cool) gave him some tiny white pills then he was wide awake, speeding ( in more ways then one), paranoid and had to stop to pee every ten minutes.
"hey homer..i can see your doodle" d-0h!
