Dear ekmekparasi,

I am not sure why it is so terrible that one would want to make more out of their job by going with the intention of having an learning experience. What is so wrong with a cultural exchange? Do you think people don't benefit from it? I think I understand that many of you are not thrilled with TEFlers, or the companies that certify them. It is too bad that the standards are so low - but all careers are like that, not everyone who is a lawyer, mechanic, teacher is cut out for their job, yet society presses these people into the mold in the name of productivity. Dear ekmekparasi, do you teach English?

Do not assume anything about my artistic endevors or my professionalism - if I don't have a job now it might be because I am finishing my Bachelors degree, (ah yes, another piece of paper that means very little, but I paid a fortune for!). For all you know I could be having tea with Nejati Celik when I get to Turkey.
How do you earn a living ekmekparasi?
Perhaps, I am a rat living in the sewers of society, feeding on the carelessly discarded bits of humanity. . . .
-Rat

Good for you for slugging it out with the naysayers.

If all we got out of our work was salary, days off, health insurance, accomodations and paid vacation, that would be a pretty meagre return.

You can find so much more- in Turkey, and in life....

You're making a good beginning!

Dear Delpha, If you play your cards right, are half good at your job and can give something back to this society; you will have a great ime and make some money as well.
As to your question: 'Can your spouse come with you for the length of your work visa? Or do they have to get their own visa as a guest?'
No they don't have to If you can land a work visa it will cover your wife as well. Key word being 'legal Wife'. She to could pick up some work even if she has no experiance.
On this site I have often argued against short term TEFler's, but if your on the run from G.W.Bush (may he***in hell). Then we have to help you.
As for money you can earn alot more than $900 a month if you want.

No one is against you making more of yourself-do it in your own country. Running away is what teffullers are doing-why do you think this site is so full of crap. There is no Daves accountancy cafe or Daves engineers cafe-do you think they would put up with all the teffull crap?

Your spouse could get work even if she has no experience-that says it all -of course they could pick up crap poorly paid no future no conditions work and will get rippped off.

Just coz you hate the us why inflict all your baggage on Turkey-they have enough of their own problems with out yours as well.

But you are going to come like a lamb to the slaughter and leave again with your tail between your legs, minus a few years of your life and loads of bitter experiences under your belt.

Who the hell is Necati Celik?

Oud: a stringed instrument resembling a saz or baglama, but a bit shorter and wider, I think. Could possibly be used in football, though wouldnt sound good afterwards.

I met Nejati this year at Middle Eastern Music and Dance camp in Claifornia. Yes, he is one of the greatest Oud players in the world. I don't know if he likes football though. . . . Cool . I can't wait to hear music in Turkey!!!!!!!!
Did someone say lamb - yum!
