Hi,
I'm thinking about a job in Brasil and don't know if I'd have enough to get by on. What sort of pay do you need for a decent standard of living- going out, travelling a bit.

the job I saw pays brazilian reals $1700 a month, plus Reals$500 accomodation allowance. Is that decent?

Also, what's Campinas like to live in?

1700 a month is a lot!!!

I earned 600 Reais a month as a full time English teacher through IICA.

I would say you'd be fine on that, combined w/ your housing stipend. It's pretty nice!

And Campinas is fun. I recommend a visit Itu, since you'll be near. Itu is one of the very few historic cities in the southern half of the country, and it's amazing. It's also the city "where everything is big." Giant street signals, giant phone booths, fun stuff like that. There's also a geological park there that's really romantic.

In Sorocaba, which is also near, there's a zoo!

You can also go on the Trilha de Ipanema nearby, right to the top of the mountain.

I dunno why I just wrote all that, I guess I'm excited to hear about someone being near where I lived and had fun!
