As a break from the 24/7 tsunami coverage, here's a little humour only you guys will appreciate.
I'm sitting with an Australian friend of mine last night ringing in a very quiet New Year's Eve here in Bangkok, reminiscing about how I spent New Year's Eve 2003 on Red Square. I was blabbing on about the long train ride from Samara, the falling snow at sunrise, the -27C we were having at the time, the Kremlin guards, the fireworks ...
So I say, "Yeah ... it was pretty cool to see Lenin's Tomb."
And he replies with a straight face, "John Lenin?"   |
