Good Day General Forum:

A couple of days ago I helped someone down on the Russian Forum to locate a rather obscure website address on Russian ballet in St. Petersburg. She had tried in vain to locate the link herself with the 'usual' search engines we all know about and use.

Long story short: For those of you who don't know about it, the link below takes you to Google.com's Advanced Search Engine; maybe the MOST powerful search engine on the Net today. It is truly amazing what this thing will turn up for you, especially with regard to international websites.

Here's the link: http://www.google.com/advanced_search

If you can't find what you're looking for here, it doesn't exist. Wink

Three references to you, so you exist. I was worried for a minute when nothing came up for me (although non-existence might put me into a lower tax bracket) but then I found myself on the Guardian Unlimited site.

Google: resistance is futile!

Hello there Gerard:

Ha Ha Ha! Laughing

You may not exist under your real name but 'Curveegrrl' is there. Your creation is more real than you are! I'm curious... how does that make you feel?

Wow, I put in my real name and there are so many things I do not remember doing. I am a proffessor, football player, famous musician and many many more. One of my personnas is as the purveyor of a fine wine and drinks company..which maybe explains why my memory is a little blurred on most of my exploits.

Dear curveegirl,
" Ohhh. I don't exist. Sadness falls across my heart. "
Look on the bright side; since you don't exist, you don't HAVE a heart.
Regards,
John

Since she doesn't exist, surely she doesn't have a bright side to look on?

Dear R,
As one who also doesn't exist ( nobody here really does ), I can assure you that when your viewpoint is nothingness, everything else does indeed look quite bright. It's all relative, you see. By the way, isn't that Salieri ( aka F. Murray Abraham ) I see? Great movie - and both he and Mozart send their regards from the not so great state of Non-existence.
Nihilistically,
John

It is indeed Salieri. He's my patron saint Very Happy (if you remember the end of the film you'll know what I mean). Do please give him my regards and tell him I espect a freshly composed welcome march when I arrive!

Rob.

BTW, on the DVD director's commentary Milos Forman explains that F Murray Abraham struck him as "the Salieri of acting". Shocked I take it there's no great love lost there, then?

Dear R,
Poor F. Murray - one of those so talented actors forever condemned to playing " second-fiddle " ( so to speak ) simply because he lacks the matinee idol's physical attractiveness. But in a rare triumph of merit over sex appeal, he DID win the Academy Award for his stunning performance.
I can see, therefore, the " justice " of Foreman's remark - a comment, I think, not on F. Murray's merit, but rather on the absurd standards by which Hollywood operates - talent all too often runs a distant second ( if that ) to " box office appeal ".
Regards,
John
