|

I'm heading to an upcoming job fair and notice there are a lot of ESOL schools there--They seem to be opening up a lot of new schools in the Middle East, especially in U.A.E.
Anyone have any experience or knowledge of the quality of these schools? Normally I would be wary of any franchise-type school system, but they do have some suitable positions opening up and I'd like to get an idea of what they might be like to work for... |

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by an 'ESOL school' since the term is not used much outside of English speaking countries. Over here we teach EFL.
My advice would be to read extensively on these boards and you will see that most people advise that you keep to your first impression and avoid any franchise type school.
There are many good jobs in the Middle East, but you will find that they require an MA with extensive experience. There are a few decent jobs that only require a BA/CELTA and extensive experience, but not many. You will find that the vast majority of EFL teachers in the UAE are very experienced teachers from 35-65 years old.

ESOL is Educational Services Overseas Limited, the company that runs about half a dozen international schools--not just ESL--in the middle east, so it's more than just an english school (or so I think). I have a B.Ed and am looking for teaching opportunities in the gulf...
Anyway, thanks for the feedback
