I don't know a lot about skiing and snowboarding here but what I do know from my guide book is that the resorts are about one and half hours from Santiago and between getting there, paying the necessary fees, possible accomodation etc, it's not going to be cheap. With regard to whether you will be able to afford it on a regular basis, definitely not unless you have considerable funds of your own.
