Is 45,000 enough for accomodation in Sharjah? What kind of pad do you get for that, furnished/unfurnished?
Regards and best wishes |

Based on what I have heard and seen, I think it might get you something old. The average Villa in Sharjah rages from 55kdhs and up..Good luck finding something in that range. |

BTW: that's a Villa- not furnished. If you are ok, with a flat(apartment), then you will be able to get one with that sort of accomodations.(45k). |

How much salary you get? Infact I am an Engineer with 9 years of experience. I am offered 7500AED(Salary) +1700 (House) + 1450 (Transport). Can you or somebody tell me whether this is far below the industry standard?
With thnkas in advance. |

Perhaps you can try Dave's Engineer Newbie Forum - there's a link on this site, just look around for it.
Personally, it seems a bit low for an engineer in these parts - but, who knows? I don't discuss salaries with my eng. buddies, otherwise, I'd have to make them pay for more of the drinks.

hitesh,
There is no one on this board that is likely to have a clue what engineer salaries are. Most of us teach for years in the Middle East and rarely meet one!!
Is there no international organization of engineers? I suspect that the salary in this field depends very much on your country of origin and what kind of engineer you are. I have only known two... they were from Canada and the UK... and one of them earned an expense allowance that was more than my annual salary. I was afraid to even ask what he earned in a salary.

Even in little ol' Oman, my engineer friends are making out like bandits - nice guys, great families and I drink their scotch 'cause I can't afford the good stuff myself. This is the closest Dave's has for an inebriated emoticon - considering the amount of Gulf and KSA forums, you'd think they might develop one. This one might also work, for a time, until later in the evening when gradually turns to and then and finally if you can't hold your booze.
