Hi,

I'm looking at this ad: http://www.eslcafe.com/joblist/index.cgi?read=10020

They state that the applicant must have a university degree, yet a little further on when listing the required qualifications, they state:

You must be a graduate of a post-secondary institution.

My understanding is a graduate of a tertiary institution includes 1 and 2 year diplomas/certificates etc. So I'm a little confused as to why they demand a university degree, then suggest that a diploma will be okay too. Unless they mean age restrictions -- if you're 31 and over, you need a degree, if you're 30 and under you don't.

Cheers.

Hrmm, that's quite a warning!

Was he found guilty of assault? It's only mentioned that he was taken to court -- everyone can take anyone to court these days. He's also accused of many things, but not been proven guilty.

I don't know who to believe, but i'll tread carefully.

ta! Confused

He was found guilty. He had to pay the teacher in question 7 months salary. If you read my posting on the Bohme Academy, you'll never consider his school again. Oh, and you don't need a post-secondary degree to answer the original question.

Explains why he never answered my e-mail to come on here and comment on that thread: HE'S A CONVICTED CRIMINAL AND COMPLETE SCUMBAG!

Anymore trouble with this felon and it's in the slammer and perhaps a forced deportation! Wink

Geez, there's no need for the acidic sarcasm Rachael. I could have made a blind assumption, but instead I rightly asked a sincere question to clarify an ambiguity. If you're angry with Bohme, DO NOT take it out on me, I don't deserve your anger. Just because I enquired about the Bohme school doesn't mean I support his crimes (I wasn't even aware of them to begin with).

IndianaJones,
My phrase "you don't need a post-secondary degree" wasn't meant as acidic sarcasm, I just wanted to let you know. I'm sorry if it offended you.
All apologies,
Rachael

No worries Rachael, I had my sumo-underwear all tied up in a knot over nothing -- I'm pretty sick, serious dehydration and lack of electrolytes, and i'm not thinking straight. So really, I should be apologising! Again, don't worry about it.

As for Bohme, I'll avoid it like the plague. If I hear of anyone else going to Japan, I'll point them towards this board too.

No worries. Is it a good or a bad thing that I'll be spreading this aussie colloquialism through the Japanese population? I don't mind them saying it, so long as they live by its philosophy. Wink

Thanks for all the help everyone, I really appreciate it. Very Happy

P.S. I just watched a promotional video for the school, and one of the teacher's assistant's looks very uncomfortable, and the smiles and laughter of the students appears a little forced. Dunno, it could be the pressure of being filmed for strangers all over the world to see. Shocked

Well, I'm not sure what the criminal court had to say about his assault, but the scumbag accusation was correct, Mike L. I know he went to trial in a civil court and lost.
There's something fishy going on with Bohme. I checked gaijinpot.com after I noticed that the original posting was MIA here at davesesl, both the French and English postings warning against the school are gone. I smell some kind of cover-up.......
