Don't tell them you want to work somewhere esle. Tell them you have a family emergency and you need to be paid before you leave. If they are withholding any pay, ask for an advance.
What is your visa situation?

Your not obligated except for time worked that hasn't been paid yet. you owe them nothing till they get you an ARC. You are deportable at any time for any reason. Therefore act accordingly. Find a decent school pay a decent wage with a decent boss providing a decent curriculum and be a good teacher. Why enrich someone else for what you can do yourself?

Visas can be extended by signing up to non-compulsory Chinese classes.

The only forseeable problem is if your agent freaks out. This can and has happened. They will promise all under the sun irregardless of how they act to keep you working and then normally systematically break all those promises in short order and then blame you when you get upset for them breaking the promises they made to get you to stay. It is remarkably like an abusive relationship if you are on the outside looking in.

Proceed carefully and keep your head straight.

May the Force be with you

Good call and great advice. You may also want to give your, soon to be former employer some face and change cities. It certainly couldn't do much harm and may go a long way towards your future job security.
