I see that the "best and worst of Taiwan" thread has been locked as it descended into a flame war. I know that the moderators are probably just volunteers and don't have lots of time, but I think they need to be a little more proactive to stop this kind of thing from happening. (Without at the same time overmoderating and leaving everybody too afraid to say something). A small amount of early intervention may save further intervention later on.

I suggest the moderator simply needs to post within a thread that has people flaming each other that any further posts containing flames will be deleted. Or to delete the offending parts of any messages perhaps with the following inserted where part of the message was deleted:
*FLAME: deleted by a moderator*

Another suggestion for the moderators. At the top of the page there is a sticky thread that says "Read the Job Information Journal first". That's a good idea, but maybe you could add some more to the thread.

For example:
* Please use the search function for this board to see if your question has already been answered.
* FAQ: Where can I get a visa for Taiwan? Go to the GIO website to find the address of the nearest Taiwan representative office.
* If you have a specific question about visas don't forget to give the following information: what passport you hold, where you intend to apply for the visa, are you applying for a work permit in Taiwan, etc.
