Im thinking of teaching in Asia next year, and Im looking into teaching in a country other Korea. Im quite interested in Vietnam, but Ive heard conflicting things about whether or not you can save money. What your opinion? Is it possible to live and pay back student loans in Vietnam?
Any help would be appreciated. |

I'm in the same boat. I've been living in Vietnam for the last 2 years and I've barely made a dent in my school loans. Now to be fair, I've also gained other obligations like a wife and a new baby girl.
I think it is possible to save money, but it takes a little time to get established. Once the schools feel confident about you, the hours will come pouring in.
The other difficulty is transferring money out of the country. I've yet to try this, but I've heard people say it's possible. Most say you need a letter from your employer stating your monthly salary. I've also heard that you need to show you've paid tax on your earnings before they'll let you transfer. |
