It's owned by the same people/group who own IH Bydgoszcz,or at least it was.The town is a bit drab and dreary.Your salary will be pitiful. |

Compared to most Polish towns it's not that bad. Problem is that it was pretty extensively worked over by the Russians in 1945 and not given priority for reconstruction. There are certainly worse places to go but then there are better too.
The school is still owned by the Bydgoszcz group which is reputed to be the best IH group in Poland. Your salary won't be good but at least you will certainly get it all. Other schools tend to look somewhat favourably on the name IH on your CV for a first job. If you've got any brains you'll do the minimum possible number of hours at IH and build up as much private work as possible. |

When I first came to Poland in 2003 I looked into IH Koszalin. Emailed with a canadian teacher who'd been there and spoke favorably of it. One comment she DID make, however, that turned me off was that the school was not very up-to-date technologically (ie only one computer, etc.). But that was nearly 2 years ago so maybe things have changed since then.
I actually ended up at IH Opole which has been, overall, a very positive experience. If you're not dead-set on Koszalin, you might want to check out Opole. We still have a few vacancies for next year. |

I worked at IH Koszalin from 2003-2004, and I still have friends who are working there now. The admin/bosses never once tried to screw me over in regards to pay and hours. The school is a pretty good representation of what IH stands for. Good trainings, good students. I liked the town. Quiet, yes, but you can party if you want (there is a Uni there). Close to Gdansk, Poznan, Mielno (great beach life 20 min away). PM me if you want answers to specifcs. |
