Hey Blues clues,
I hope you weren't including me in your assessment of the QAC teaching staff!!
Whoever takes on the QP contract ( QAC, CNA, Tafe etc) will face the same problems from the QP hierachy and will have teachers pulling their hair out (providing they still have any) before long. |

So now it is official at last (well sort of, as nothing has been put in writing), but, yes, QAC has lost the contract - to some Aussie outfit which is not TAFE. and which does not appear to have Gulf experience. If you have followed the ups and downs of our experiences with QAC and felt that there were problems, then wait til you see the new contractor!!!!!
As of today, we have not seen a contract or new accommodation, but are expected to start work on January 1st. The "information" meetings we have had have left us all more confused than ever. The stock answer seems to be "Don't know" when questions about conditions are asked. But this IS the Gulf. so Inshallah all will be well on Jan 1st.
QAC are behaving with dignity and are keeping teachers informed in so far as they can. Arrangements for flights, final salaries and exit are being made so that those who do not wish to join the new contractor can leave at the time they choose, while those who wish to transfer to the new contractor are able to do so, provided they will take the leap in the dark and accept a contract they have not yet seen.
This whole sordid takeover from an organisation which has had difficulties, yet managed to treat most employees as people, to some. as yet, unidentified organisation, shows where the problems discussed on this forum in the past actually arise. We have here a classic case of mismanagement which seems to echo the takeover of MLI on another thread and in another country, not very far from Qatar.
Good luck to all the colleagues who I have come to know over the past few years. Good luck, especially. to those who decide to accept the new contract. I look forward to reading lots of comments here as the new contractor works on the difficult task of satisfying the demands of QP.
A Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and Eid Mubarak to all who are involved as this sorry episode moves forward, Gulf style. |
