I'll be spending a few days in August in Bahrain.

I'm on a very tight budget and was wondering if anyone out there could advise me on cheap accommo in town.

Phone numbers, addresses, websites etc will be much appreciated.

By budget I basically mean single room with A/C and a working toilet.

Oh I do feel sorry for you. Nearly all the cheap hotels in Manama, Bahrain are full of protitues. Please avoid the Capitol Hotel, it is the center of the drug business here. Also the hotel is very seedy.

I would recommend the Awal Hotel, right in the heart of town, that is where i stayed. It is quite seedy, but the rooms are clean.
You said that you are on a cheap budget, i paid BD16, back in march but we are in the low season now so negoitate with them, further.
Tel. 17211321 .

A good website is http://www.bahraintourism.com/hotels.htm
Avoid the one statr hotel's for the above reasons.

Thanks for this.............

Bearing in mind that I'll be seeking budget accommodation I'll have little spare change to entertain Russian ladies or chase the dragon.

You could try the Tylos....15bd a night plus breakfast...that is the daily rate... they might give you a discount for a longer stay.

Heard Tylos is a nice place at a good price. GO for that.

Others to consider :

Mid end : Bahrain International, Gulf

Low end : Jindal, Ambassador & the Seef .

Happy Lodging.

There is a Youth Hostel. One of my colleagues recommends it. In the past some colleagues used to take sleeping bags and tents and camp in the desert.
