I say hands down CECN!
Based on the fact that :
a)They lie to you from the start and then after that its more lies...
b) Working conditions are comparable with working in a third world factory
c)You are more likely to want to be on Prozac
d)You will be surrounded by teachers who simply bleet with others regardless if they agree or disagree with what they say.
e)Teaching "Post-foundation"- ex/ crazy-to-still-be-working with CECN people will know what I mean.
f)After one week of working with them your time will be consumed in going online and applying for every other EFL job possible, so as to get away from the madness of CECN
g)You are made to rub out student's handwriting in around 30 workbooks (and it has NOTHING to do with receycling or saving the planet)
h)Most conversations with your colleagues will be along the lines of, "What the hell am I still doing here?"
i)The Project Director- will s*** you for every baisa
j) The Project Director- will deceieve you at every opportunity
k) The Project Director-will take off whenever he likes
l)The Project Director- who loves to say "That's the way it is" will do NOTHING to help you
m) The joys of having over 35 in a class
n) You never get first choice of location, so you will be stranded either in-the-middle-of-nowhere Ibra-, Musana- with a witch doctor, Nizwa with neo conservatists or "God Forbid" Salalah
o)Apartments in the middle of nowhere
p)Being forced WHEN to take your vacation
q)Being made to come in during mid-semester (even though there are no students) and expected to stay there....
r)You are NOT allowed to say what you think at meetings, if you do, then you are simply a target for all of CECNs vent and anger
s)You are told at the end of the year if you are having your contract renewed (even though they know MONTHS in advance who will/won't have it)
t)There is no such thing as "professionalism" with CECN, you are going to get more from lunatics in an asylum
u)You are so ashamed to admit that you work for CECN that you usually make up a name of another company, as it's THAT bad.
v)You have to weary of snitches in the company
w)The Dubai ofice will preten that they have never heard of you, in order no to be obliged to help you, even though it's their job
x)There's no such thing as a calendar with CECN, everyday changes more times than most people change their underwear in a lifetime
y)The lack of help and support, you are expected to do your own
z)........What?! You wanted more reasons, hasn't the above convinced you enough? |

Personally I thought that this was all pretty well covered in the other two endless threads...
Isn't the horse dead enough yet?
VS
(PS:Anyone who takes a job at either of them is obviously just desperate for a job...) |

So you dont like Ibra, Musana, Nizwa or Salalah. Where would you like to be? Muscat? And then you can complain about city life and how expensive it is. And how will you spend your holidays and weekends? Going to exotic places like... Ibra, Musana, Nizwa or (God forbid!) Salalah? Most language schools and associated organisations treat teachers like sh*t - thats taken for granted. 35 in a class? Try teaching 50 or 60. Get to know your students, get to know the town and the surrounding area, learn Arabic and speak to people. Even if the conditions are cr@p, you are living in a place which is worth living in. If you want Middle East Lite, go to Dubai. |

It must be a cultural thing,
Obviously, this is an attempt at humour.
Less obvious is the reference point.
Its similar to the Abbott and Costello Whos on first base? gag, but without he eye-poking and definitely without the wit and repartee. |
