excuse my ignorance - is a k - 12 school an international school where kindergarten to yr 12 is taught? if so, do you have to have a teaching degree to work in one? advice appreciated....

Yes, but not necessarily an international school. In fact, most of the jobs advertised will be for private schools catering for local Turkish children. In the new system, primary school is Years 1 to 8, high school is Years 9 to 11, plus high-school prep. The primary and high-school sections of a particular school are usually in separate buildings on the same campus.

actually, re: teaching degrees, it's not wholly necessary-- I have a 4 year BA and a 3 month university-level TESL certificate and I'm 'teaching' at TED Kayseri. If you don't have a B. Ed they can get you a different work permit where you are classified as a laboratory teacher, whatever that is. Basically, the only difference is we cant give grades. Which is a drawback for discipline. But you can work with just a 4 yesr degree.
