I've seen a bunch of posts about what the qualifcations are for a job in Rio. I'd like to get some opinions.
I am in my mid forties and just about to retire. Income isn't that important, but a job with a visa is since I don't want to move around every 6 months.
I have an MBA from Santa Clara University, 15 years of management experience including the last 5 running my own business, and limited teaching experience with adults. I am currently not certified but I will be enrolling into a CELTA program sometime in the next few months.
Am I good candidate or am I too old to start doing this?
Should I expect more than the average new teacher given my experience?
Any info would be great!
Thanks |

Hi Sniper,
You're by no means too old. Many schools in the bigger cities will want to snap you up, but alas...it is very unlikely that they would be able to provide you with a visa. Once you're qualified, try International House. They're the only ones I know of who can really come up with work visas for foreign CELTA-qualified teachers.
Good luck! It's a fantastic country to live in! |
