Hi Saudi experts,

I have been looking for a decent job in the Middle East from Oman to Iran. I have seen several ads especially in the attractive UAE (MLI), however I have read negative comments about this place. Also, I am not interested in teaching army guys. I am looking for an academic institution. My results concluded that IPA might be a good place to start in the ME (Since I have been teaching in the Far East (Japan) for the last 7 years).

I went through their web site and they seem pretty forward about everything.

Anyone there can give more info:

# I find that 35 classes a week is REALLY a heavy teaching load.

# What's the curriculum like? Teaching style? Students? Motivation? Management? Average salary? How much can you save (Married with one kid)? Do they provide free schooling for kids? Housing? Do they need teachers for 2004?
# I have my MEd/TESOL, B.A, , CELTA, and 7 years teaching experience under my belts.
# Do all EFL teachers come from western countries? Or they hire other nationalities to teach English?

PLEASE FEED ME UP WITH INFO! I am very interested to find out about these issues, then I can make a GOOD decision.

THANKS IN ADVANCE! And thanks to Dave's useful forum.

Take care!

One word from me, and they do just as they think best. But it is nicer where I am than in Saudi.

Dear scot47,
Nicer than the Kingdom, huh? I believe that's called d a m n i n g with faint praise. The number of places on this planet that aren't nicer than Saudi Arabia ( well, unless you're Saudi; after all, there's no place like home ) are not overly numerous. 11 more days, inshallah.

John

I was using figurative langiage, johnslat. Like when you win a million on the lottery and say,"Not Bad".

Saudi Arabia is so different that you cannot really compare life there with life anywhere else on Planet Terra.

Dear scot47,
Well, you may not have won the lottery, but I hereby present you with the " Understatement of the Year " Award. Nobody else even was a close second.
