Hey everybody,

I was wondering if anyone on this board could offer me some advice on how to get a job teaching at an international or American school in Germany. I'm currently an elementary school ESOL teacher in the states. I've taught ESL/EFL abroad before, I have a Master's in Linguistics, and I'm certified to teach K-12 ESOL. Because I'm trying to find work for my wife as well (who is similarly qualified) I'm not interested in the typical position teaching ESL. Does anyone have any ideas regarding where I could start researching. I'm starting to aply with the Dept. of Defense, but chances seem slim since I've heard many bases are downsizing and my wife and I are not military. Maybe there are corporations which run schools for their employees' American children? Any ideas are welcome.

Thank you!

Sounds like a worthy objective. I would have said the DoD schools, but I see you're already exploring that. Do the US Embassy in Berlin and consolates use the DoD schools?

What does googling give you?

You should check out the JFK school in Berlin. It is an American international school. Just search JFK Berlin on Google and you should find it. On the website it should say about teacher recruitment. I think you need at least five years of experience to be considered.
