I am a canadian & Italian citizen currently in Japan but would love to leave here to teach in Europe, actually, Spain or Italy. Not keen on Japan, been here one month, and want to go to Europe. My questions are:
How much can I save
What are some names of schools with good reputations (do you know of any hiring)
Is airfare ever paid for?

I have a university degree, some teaching experience, and TESOL certification. My passports are valid.

You dont like japan. Maybe it is your employer, or the
extreme culture shock. Razz

Here are some ideas from an oldie. Embarassed

Grab the local business pages and look under SCHOOLS, LANGUAGE SCHOOLS, University, Private schools.

email about 10 to 15 of them your CV tomorrow morning.
Two days later do a follow up call.

Better yet, go to a few in person with resume in hand. Most jobs
are not ADVERTISED. really it is a well know fact.

Now you have the wheels set in motion.

Next, what do you do in your own country for a good time.
art, music, sports, nothing, dancing,

go to a place that looks COOL like a place you think you might
like. Even if you are not SURE. Just try it. This is for Tuesday afternoon
or night.

Say hello to someone new. Ask them if you can share their table,
buy a drink whatever.

Next, check out the tefl jobs in italy or spain. Send them your resume
NOW.

Tell them you are unhappy in Asia, and will make a one year commitment
to their school in spain or italy. Even if you dont you must say it to get
the job.

True the money wont be great, but the lifestyle is awesome.
Do you like quiet or citylife .? This is important when going
to your next job. Choose carefully. I made the mistake of
going somewhere QUIET once. IT was a nightmare. Every nite
i was pulling my hair out with nothing to do or even walk to.

Mad Mad Mad Mad

Try taiwan, or turkey i hear they are pretty cool and Vietnam is great!!!!
I save 600 us a month. But i have experience.

Good luck. Choose wisely. In the end you will never be 100 per cent
sure what will happen until it is all over. That is just the shit of
working TEFL.
