Hello,
I am a qualified and experienced Australian teacher and I am keen as, to teach in Northern Vietnam. I have found this site to be fantastic and thankyou to Dave for that!
I was wondering though, are there any other sites on the www which are comparable for finding OS work?
Also, Language Links in Hanoi talk about 'YL' teaching ..? 'Scuse my ignorance, but what is 'YL'?? Is it something to do with teaching adults?
Thanks for your time,
LV. |

Lavender you don't seem to be interested in Saigon, any particular reason? hehe. Anyway I understand the job market is much larger there. |

No, I am more interested in the North - initially, anyway. So, back to my question ... do you know of other resources for finding work?
Cheers,

I am leaving for Saigon on Aug 17. I live in California atm. From what I am told the best way to land a position is to just show up at the local schools with a folder containing the following: resume/cv, copy of degree/TEFL/TESL/Etc, copy of passport, copy of visa and a current photo. If you are neat and presentable they will bring you on staff. My boyfriend is Vietnamese-Australian so we are going to Saigon together, hopefully he will be able to help me as far as negotiations go, even though he hasnt been in the country since the fall of Saigon. However it is advisable that you shop several schools before accepting any position, Vietnamese may be very spiteful if you verbally accept a position but end up signing somewhere else, they may report you to someone who may make things like visa issuance or renewal difficult. They can tell when your fresh in town. I am not promoting myself as an expert, just going by what my boyfriends friends and family members have told me about their recent trips there. From what I understand others have already set a precedence for us. Accepting jobs then bailing when a better opportunity presents itself.
